THE GROUPS` PROFILE:
BACKGROUND:
Ji-Inue Ndani ya Amani theartre group was formed back in December 2000. At its foundation it was composed of about eight members; 3 ladies and five young men. These were volunteers both from the two sublocations in Yala Division i.e Marenyo and Jina sub-locations. The young artists were very dedicated and had agreed to work together as a team. By this time it wasn`t officilly registered. The young artists` were high school pals that had earlier met during high school drama festivals and happened to come within the same region and had discussed the issue of starting a community theatre club. The 8 members merged on 3rd Dec 2000 to form Ji-Inue theatre club. Amongst other things, the artists saw the importance of drama in education and thus started by doing participatory educational theatre in schools, churches, markets and community barazas thruogh songs, poems then later moved to performing plays and skits. The group also saw the urgency of enhancing awareness on the dangers of HIV/AIDS and the adverse effects of drug abuse in the community.
